  • Prednisolone is a corticosteroid medication used to reduce inflammation and suppress the immune system. It works by mimicking the effects of cortisol, a hormone produced by the adrenal glands. Prednisolone binds to glucocorticoid receptors inside cells, which then enter the nucleus and influence gene expression. This results in a decrease in the production of inflammatory substances like prostaglandins and leukotrienes. Additionally, prednisolone helps regulate immune responses by reducing the activity of immune cells, thus alleviating symptoms of various inflammatory and autoimmune conditions. It is commonly used to treat conditions such as asthma, allergies, and rheumatoid arthritis.
